Alexander "Alex" David Gaaserud, 32, is a Leader, Husband, Father, Patriot, a native of Elkins, and is a current resident of Parkersburg.
He received 7,418 votes in the Republican primary election in 2024 for the U.S. House of Representatives. He is extremely grateful for the people that voted for him in Wood County and the other 26 counties. He is now taking his political outreach to all 55 counties, and is running for the United States Senate in 2026 to replace Senator Shelley Moore Capito.
Alex, graduated from Elkins High School in 2010 where he was a three-sport athlete. He was a three-time "Hands of the Week" award winner through multiple news outlets, to include both WBOY Channel 12 and WDTV channel 5 in 2009. Along with those achievements, he was the lone captain of the Elkins High School basketball team and an All-State baseball player, both in 2010.
Gaaserud founded the Young Republicans Club of Elkins High School in September of 2008, which included over 60 members that took part in various community works including candite canvassing throughout the Elkins area even, post graduation. To say this club was successful is an understatement. Many members have gone on to flourish in important careers that include business, logistics and medicine.
Gaaserud graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Davis and Elkins College, the same institution where both his parents also graduated. Gaaserud also participated as a valuable member of his debate team during his college career.
After graduation, Gaaserud went on to have a successful career in Third Party Logistics. Gaaserud married Jasmine Michelle Angus, a native of Ravenswood. The couple have two children, Xander Paul Gaaserud, and Harrison James Gaaserud.
